Problem Statement
Overconsumption of antibiotics
Overconsumption of antibiotics will eventually lead to what many have called antibiotic apocalypse and rise of superbugs that could kill 80,000. General spectrum antibiotics are usually prescribed to patients with upper respiratory tract infections which could be viral or bacterial.
Diagnosis is based on experience because symptoms hardly differentiate viral infections from bacterial ones. The best alternative is to send clinical samples to a diagnostics laboratory which might take days to provide the results.
