From Lab to Market with UM Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre (PPBGL)

The UMCIE team visited the UM Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre (PPBGL) on 30th January 2026, to gain a deeper understanding of PPBGL’s core business, research activities, and ongoing initiatives.

We were graciously hosted by the Director, Dr. Nuradilla Mohamad Fauzi. The introductory meeting and discussion provided valuable insights into how UMCIE can support the identification of opportunities for intellectual property (IP) protection and commercialization of PPBGL’s research outputs.

The UMCIE team then had the opportunity to visit PPBGL’s facilities. The tour, led by Mr. Mohd Shahmi Hakimi Mazlishah, included visits to the Barbados Blackbelly sheep farm, UM plantations, the plant tissue culture laboratory, and supporting facilities that enable high-quality laboratory work and the preservation of valuable research samples.

We look forward to supporting the journey from research to commercialization.
